Dresden, 03.09.2024 – Sunmaxx, developer and manufacturer of photovoltaic-thermal hybrid modules, has been nominated as a finalist for the 17th German Sustainability Award (Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis) in the Company / Energy Generation Technology category. The German Sustainability Award is one of Europe’s most important awards for companies that are particularly committed to sustainable technologies and developments and drive forward innovative solutions for an environmentally friendly future.
With this nomination, the jury recognizes the company’s technological achievements in the field of sustainable energy generation. Sunmaxx’s PVT hybrid technology enables the complete decarbonization of commercial, industrial, municipal and private electricity and heat supply. Since its foundation in 2021, Sunmaxx has been pursuing a consistent strategy to replace fossil fuels and thus reduce CO2 emissions across the board. As the first manufacturer of PVT hybrid modules suitable for mass production, Sunmaxx has the potential to make a decisive contribution to achieving global climate targets.
Wilhelm Stein, Managing Director of Sunmaxx, comments on the announcement of the finalists: “We are overwhelmed by the positive feedback from the expert jury and score4more, the research partner of the German Sustainability Award. Our team is honored to have been nominated as a finalist for the 17th German Sustainability Award. This recognition shows us that we are in the right place at the right time with our technology.”
Franz Ziering, Chief Sales Officer at Sunmaxx, adds: “The nomination as a finalist underscores the enormous potential of PVT for an environmentally friendly, self-sufficient and sustainable energy supply — from single-family homes to industrial plants with process heat requirements. We see the nomination as confirmation of our achievements to date and as an incentive to remain pioneers in our industry.”

About Sunmaxx PVT
Sunmaxx PVT combines know-how from the solar industry with technologies from the automotive sector. Sunmaxx is the first manufacturer to successfully transfer PVT from a niche market to mass production and to make the acquisition costs attractive. Sunmaxx PVT technology enables an independent, climate-neutral and sustainable supply of electricity and heat. The Saxon manufacturer thus ensures a virtually self-sufficient energy system for the home and for sector coupling in the entire energy segment – from industry and commerce to modern district heating systems in entire urban areas.
The current generation of highly efficient Sunmaxx PVT modules was developed in collaboration with lead investor and business partner MAHLE, Fraunhofer ISE, and Sunmaxx partner GES Gebäude-Energiesysteme. Further collaborations exist with Oxford PV, the leading manufacturer of the next generation of solar cells with perovskite technology.
