Press Release Sunmaxx QVANTUM Form Strategic Partnership Sunmaxx PVT Modules as Source for QVNATUM's Brine-to-Water Heat Pumps

Sunmaxx and QVANTUM Join Forces: PVT and Brine-to-Water Heat Pump System to Launch as Integrated Solution

• Sunmaxx, the world’s leading PVT manufacturer, and QVANTUM, an inno-vation leader in the heat pump industry, enter into a strategic partnership.
• The companies aim to jointly develop and market fully integrated, fossil-free heating systems for buildings of all types.
• The partnership will make large parts of QVANTUM’s partner network available for PVT heat pump systems in the future.

Dresden/Kulmbach, 01.10.2026: Sunmaxx, a market leader in photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) hybrid modules, and QVANTUM, an innovative newcomer bringing heat pumps to urban environments, have entered into a strategic partnership. The collaboration combines two highly complementary technologies: Sunmaxx PVT modules generate electricity and heat simultaneously. While the electricity supplies the building’s electrical loads, the heat generated by the modules serves as a direct heat source for QVANTUM’s modular ground-source heat pumps. The solution can also be used to provide efficient cooling during the summer months.

In addition to ambient air and geothermal energy, QVANTUM is thus gaining access to another heat source for its ground-source systems. This opens up new possibilities for the planning and implementation of heat pump projects – from conventional single-family homes to large-scale projects supplying local and district heating networks. While air-source heat pumps can often face challenges in urban environments due to noise concerns, and drilling for geothermal heat sources can be costly, PVT provides a permit-free alternative that also generates electricity. With PVT, site-specific restrictions are no longer a limiting factor: the hybrid modules can be installed like conventional photovoltaic systems on roofs, façades or, in exceptional cases, on suitable open spaces.

“Our partnership with QVANTUM brings us another step closer to our goal of making PVT heat pump systems accessible to the broader heating market. The combination of our industrially manufactured PVT modules and QVANTUM’s high-performance heat pump technology provides an economically attractive and scalable solution for buildings of all types,” says Dr. Wilhelm Stein, Managing Director of Sunmaxx, commenting on the collaboration.

Wolfgang Herold, CEO of QVANTUM, adds: “Accessing a suitable heat source is often the biggest challenge when it comes to decarbonizing our cities with heat pump solutions. To make our Adjö Gas vision a reality, we need innovative concepts and integrated systems that intelligently combine renewable electricity and renewable heat – with PVT, both can even be generated on the same footprint. We see great potential in our collaboration with Sunmaxx to make our ground-source heat pumps attractive to an even broader range of customers.”

In addition to their sales cooperation, Sunmaxx and QVANTUM will also collaborate at the trade and installation level. In the future, PVT heat pump systems will be available through QVANTUM’s extensive network of wholesale and installation partners. For customers, this means broader and more cost-effective access to an innovative form of heat and power supply – enabled by QVANTUM’s established network of professional heat pump installers.
