Sunmaxx PVT brings former dena boss Andreas Kuhlmann onto advisory board

Dresden, 19 July 2023 – The Dresden-based company Sunmaxx PVT, the specialist in photovoltaic thermal (PVT) modules, has selected Andreas Kuhlmann for a seat on its board. As the longtime head of the German Energy Agency (dena), Andreas Kuhlmann brings strong experience and an extensive network from which the solar company can profit. Since the first of July 2023, Kuhlmann is active as the managing director (CTO/COO) of the consulting firm Christ & Company, where he will also devote special attention to investments in startups and new business models in the clean tech sector.

Wilhelm Stein, CEO von Sunmaxx, said about Kuhlmann’s new role: “The time for the (re)building of the solar industry in Germany is now. With our PVT systems, we are not only decarbonising the heating sector, but also delivering green electricity. Andreas Kuhlmann is a perfect addition to our board. With his support and experience, we can take the next step to scale up our technology and continue to grow.“

“To reach climate and decarbonisation goals, innovative technologies and highly efficient PVT collectors like those from Sunmaxx PVT are essential. Therefore, I’m pleased to be actively driving innovation in Germany forwards as a board member at Sunmaxx”, said Kuhlmann. “I see Sunmaxx as a trailblazer for a revolution in the electricity and heat market. The technology combines cross-sector knowledge from the solar and automotive industries and enables residential, office, and industry buildings to operate in a completely climate-neutral manner. I am looking forward to working together and to continue actively shaping the transformation of the energy industry.“

Sunmaxx is a pioneer in the area of PVT technology. Electricity and heat can be produced simultaneously from PVT modules, and they can be used in both existing and new buildings. They are also a perfect, silent and highly effective source of energy for brine heat pump and 3-4 times more efficient than a conventional PV system. The thermal portion of the solar energy flows into heat storage tanks or heat pumps and thus supplies the entire building. The solar power is a versatile, emission-free energy source for the heat pump, the household or an electric car, among other examples.

About Sunmaxx PVT
Sunmaxx PVT GmbH is an innovative developer of photovoltaic-thermal solar modules (PVT). With its globally unique technology, the cleantech start-up combines solar and automotive know-how in its products for sector coupling— and thus aims to revolutionize the electricity and heating market. The company’s vision is to enable completely climate-neutral residential, office and industrial buildings. Especially in combination with heat pumps, there is enormous potential for a fossil-free heat supply. In this context, the PVT systems of the company, which has been active in Dresden since 2021, are not only suitable for mass production, but are also attractively priced, which means that economical solutions can be developed for complete decarbonization in the heat sector. In addition to providing heat, the PVT modules from Sunmaxx PVT can also be used very effectively for passive cooling of buildings.
