- Energy transition in healthcare: A major German operator of large therapy centers has ordered 1,700 PVT modules from Sunmaxx to fully decarbonize several of its locations.
- Sunmaxx PVT technology proves its value: The order confirms the high per-formance, quality, and cost-effectiveness of Sunmaxx hybrid modules, which generate both electricity and heat from the same surface, enabling highly efficient, fossil-free energy systems.
- Decarbonization as an economic advantage: The customer is consistently investing in renewable energy systems based on Sunmaxx technology, securing predictable, long-term low energy costs and greater independence from fossil fuels.
A leading healthcare provider in Germany is consistently advancing its decarboni-zation strategy: eight of its facilities will be converted to climate-friendly energy systems using 1,700 PVT modules from Saxon manufacturer Sunmaxx. In some cases, existing photovoltaic installations are even being replaced with PVT, which simultaneously generates electricity and heat. Combined with geothermal probes, brine-to-water heat pumps, energy storage systems, and intelligent source ma-nagement, this results in highly efficient, integrated systems for emission-free buil-ding operation.
The combination of PVT technology, geothermal energy, and heat pumps is consi-dered one of the most efficient forms of sector coupling. The modules generate electricity for on-site consumption while simultaneously supplying thermal energy to the heat pumps, ensuring highly efficient system operation. The system is desig-ned to meet substantial heating demands, including indoor therapy pools. At the same time, the infrastructure also allows to cool the buildings – an important ad-vantage for facilities with high energy requirements.
The new project sends a strong signal to the market: Sunmaxx technology delivers. “Equipping multiple locations with our modules makes us very proud,” says Dr. Wil-helm Stein, CEO of Sunmaxx. “The transition to renewable systems is no longer an ideological question but an economic one. Our modules generate both electricity and heat from the same surface, saving resources in multiple ways. In addition, our patented and automated production process provides a significant cost advan-tage.”
Notably, the healthcare center operator continues to pursue its investment strate-gy consistently despite the announced German Building Modernization Act (for-merly the Building Energy Act – GEG). For the company group, one thing is clear: transitioning to a fossil-free energy supply is a decisive economic factor. As part of this shift, previously used combined heat and power (CHP) units will be decommis-sioned and fully replaced by renewable technologies. At the same time, one of the largest PVT-based energy systems in Germany is being created. In the future, the group will benefit from low and predictable long-term energy costs while making a meaningful contribution to climate protection, setting a benchmark project for the healthcare sector.
“The heating transition is no longer a topic for the future – it is happening right now. And in the short to medium term, it will determine the competitiveness of companies,” Stein adds. “Pioneers like this demonstrate that climate-neutral ener-gy supply and economic success are not mutually exclusive – in fact, they are a perfect match.”
About Sunmaxx
Sunmaxx is a technology leader in photovoltaic-thermal hybrid modules (PVT). As the first company worldwide to manufacture PVT modules on an industrial scale, Sunmaxx enables full decarbonization in the building sector – from single-family homes to industrial facilities and municipal heating networks. The company’s mis-sion is to make the energy transition affordable, efficient, and scalable for mass adoption.
