Sunmaxx Employees Working at the PVT Production Line

Sunmaxx Receives Major Order of 1,300 PVT Modules for the Decarbonization of a Mid-Sized Company in Baden-Wurttemberg

  • 1,300 Sunmaxx PVT modules will enable the complete decarbonization of a mid-sized industrial company in Baden-Wurttemberg with around 500 employees.
  • In combination with a brine-to-water heat pump and a borehole field serving as a seasonal energy storage system, the PVT installation replaces a 20-year-old oil heating system, intelligently integrating climate-neutral heat and electricity supply.
  • Long-term, predictable energy costs below 10 cents/kWh make the project a flagship example of cost-efficient and sustainable industrial energy supply using Sunmaxx technology.

Sunmaxx has secured a significant order of 1,300 photovoltaic-thermal hybrid modules (PVT). The client is a medium-sized company based in Baden-Wurttemberg. The modules will form a large-scale PVT system that will fully decarbonize the company’s site: another flagship project demonstrating climate-neutral industrial processes enabled by Sunmaxx technology.

As part of the project, the company’s old 800 kW oil heating system will be replaced by a brine-to-water heat pump. The core of the new energy concept is a PVT system powered by Sunmaxx modules combined with a borehole field acting as a seasonal heat store. The modules simultaneously generate heat and electricity: the heat supplies the heat pump, while surplus heat from the summer months is stored underground and retrieved in winter for space heating. The electricity generated powers both the heat pump and additional electrical loads within the facility.

This system will completely replace the oil heating system. As a result, the company will drastically reduce its CO₂ emissions and free itself from dependence on fossil fuels and their price volatility. At the same time, it will benefit from energy costs below ten cents per kilowatt-hour and long-term cost stability – as renewable heat and electricity are among the most economical energy sources available.

“With this order, we are strengthening our position as the technology and market leader for PVT modules,” says Dr. Wilhelm Stein, CEO of Sunmaxx. “Our hybrid modules are the heart of modern energy infrastructure. They supply both heat and electricity and pave the way toward a fully renewable energy future.”

The project highlights the growing importance of PVT systems in transforming in-dustrial heat supply. Thanks to the industrial-scale series production of Sunmaxx modules, even large systems can be implemented quickly and cost-effectively: an essential step toward making the switch to renewable energy attractive across the industrial and commercial sectors. With over 500 employees, the industrial client has the potential to become one of the largest PVT projects worldwide to date.

About Sunmaxx
Sunmaxx is a leader in the development and production of photovoltaic-thermal hybrid modules (PVT). As the first company worldwide to offer industrially manu-factured PVT modules, Sunmaxx delivers a technology that produces electricity and heat at the same time and is compatible with all common brine-to-water he-at pumps. Sunmaxx’s mission is to accelerate the heat transition and enable an affordable switch to renewable energy across all sectors – from single-family ho-mes up to industrial process heat.
